Last updated: October 2, 2026. This policy is required by
Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar laws (including in Nevada and
Connecticut). It applies alongside our Privacy
Policy. The short version: if you write about your health, we store it only to
show it back to you. We never share it, sell it, or analyze it.
What consumer health data we may collect
Solous does not ask for health information, and has no health features,
forms, or trackers. But a journal holds whatever you choose to write, so your
entries, replies, photos, audio and video may contain information about your
physical or mental health, conditions, treatment, medication, reproductive or
sexual health, or similar topics. The emotion labels you attach to lines of
writing (such as "Sadness" or "Fear") may also be read as information about
your mental state.
We do not derive, infer, or extract health information from your content,
and we do not analyze it. Your content is only processed to carry out what you
ask for, such as saving it, showing it, searching your own journal, or
exporting it.
Where it comes from
Only from you: what you type, upload, or import into your own journal.
Why we collect it and how it is used
Solely to provide the service you asked for: to store your journal and show it
back to you, and to export it to you on request. We ask for your explicit consent
to this, separately from our Terms, when you sign up (or, for older accounts,
when asked). We do not use it for advertising, profiling, research, AI
training, or any other purpose.
If you turn on end-to-end encryption, your entries, replies and media are
encrypted on your device and we cannot read them. The names of the
tags and emotions you create, and the dates of your entries, are not encrypted,
so choose names you are comfortable with us being able to see.
Sharing
We do not share or sell consumer health data with any third
party or affiliate, and we have no affiliates. It is processed on our behalf
only by our infrastructure provider, Amazon Web Services, which
hosts the Service under contract and may use it only to provide hosting to us.
If you email us, your message goes to our mailbox hosted by Google, which
handles it under its own terms, so please don't email health information you
want kept only in your journal.
If we were ever required by law to disclose data, we would disclose only the
minimum required; for end-to-end-encrypted accounts, we hold only ciphertext we
cannot decrypt.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Confirm whether we collect or share your consumer health
data, and access it, including a list of every third party
and affiliate it has been shared with (today, none). The
export gives you a full copy
immediately.
- Withdraw consent to our collection of it. Because a journal
cannot be kept without storing what you write, withdrawing consent means
deleting that content or your account.
- Delete it. Deleting your account (Settings) switches it
off at once and erases everything 30 days later, so you can cancel if it
wasn't you; email us to have it erased right away. Deleting a single entry hides it but keeps it in your account,
so to permanently erase specific content, email us. Deleted data also
leaves our backups within 30 days.
To make a request, email contact@solous.net
from the email address on your account (that is how we verify it's you). We
respond within 45 days; if we need up to 45 more days, we will
tell you why within the first 45. Requests are free, up to twice a year.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by
replying with the subject "Appeal". We will answer in writing within 45 days,
explaining what we did and why. If you're not satisfied, you may contact the
Washington State Attorney General at
atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
We will never treat you differently for exercising these rights.
